Class Reflection

To be one hundred percent honest I was not that into English in high school. I honestly hated it. For me, I have to enjoy reading to be able to understand it. When i got to college, English 101 woke me up to see that some pieces of literature are really good. Pieces like " A Good Man is Hard To Find" and " A Small Good Thing" were two of my favorites. When I got to English 102, I really took an interest in all the short stories and even most poems. English 102 taught me to analyze literature. That is the best thing i took away from this class and this semester in general. In high school, they taught you basic things but not to analyze it correctly. Being able to analyze literature is a great power. There have been several wow moments when reading in this class for me. I even had an " Aha " moment, which the teacher talked about. I honestly thought she was just talking about English but it really happened with "Dulce et Decorum Est". This class was definitely a great decision to take. It was a decent amount of work but there was not a moment or work other than "Ode to A Gracious Urn" I did not enjoy. The amount of knowledge I am taking out of this class will be used very strategically and will not go to waste. This class is the reason i now like English literature.
