Boy Scouts

Joining boy scouts is one of, if not the best decisions I have ever made in my life. Through boy scouts I have met my friends today, learned skills like being a leader, and I have became an Eagle Scout. A lot of people will view low of boy scouts that its not cool. I struggled for a while, because i did not want to be made fun of for being in boy scouts. I soon realized that if my friends want to joke on me about it, they are not my friends. Also, all of the things I learned, good things I did, and achievements  i made, i realized that they are the ones missing out.
I got lucky to join a very lucky troop. My troop is very active and goes on a trip every month. We have done activities like white water rafting, golfing, kayaking, fishing, and a lot more. Now of the best trips is Yawgoo. Yawgoo is a summer camp in Rhode Island that we go to for a week. There you can earn many merit badges, and do things like kayak, canoe, climb, camp, paddle board, fish, play ultimate frisbee, and hike. Another camping trip I love is the first class campout. In Boy scouts there are ranks. The ranks are scout, tenderfoot, second class, first class, star, life, and eagle. To go on this trip a scout needs to be 1st class. This campout is upstate New York.  This campout usually is in the negative degrees, and one year reached negative 30 with windchill. I was also the senior patrol leader. This taught me leadership skills, and was one of the best things in boy scouts I did. Becoming an eagle scout was not easy. I struggles with time because i procrastinated. I was 17 and needed to get it done by the age of 18. For my project i built a gaga ball pit and a kan jam at Tanner Park to motivate kids and allow them to go outside and play more. Boy scouts has truly made an impact on me.
